A few days later, the surveying job began.

"When we got back to that field and that road, we were shocked to see that the damn house wasn’t even there! There was no sign of it!" Ridley said. "We didn’t make a mistake about where we were – maps don’t lie!"

Ridley was at the Johnson Town Hall a few days later and, still flummoxed, made some inquiries. According to town records, there had been an old house on that road, but it had burned down in 1910!
