An excerpt from FOOTSTEPS IN THE ATTIC, by Paul F.
Eno
From "The Frustrated Teacher" Page 67
It was getting dark outside, and the
room was dim. As we entered, I at once felt "heavier." There was
an immediate sense of depression, to the point that I became almost dizzy.
The room, about forty-five feet long and maybe thirty feet wide, with a
windowed door at each end, seemed clean but uncannily dingy, almost
stuffy. I switched on my gauss meter and moved slowly along the back wall,
down the long outside wall with its ceiling-high windows, then along the
front wall, with its long blackboard. All along that blackboard, readings
fluctuated wildly, even into the negative range. There was some real
magnetic-field monkey business going on here.
"Now what?" asked the
principal in a quiet, nervous voice from the back of the room.
"We wait," I replied,
navigating back to his side through a row of desks.
Even in cases where there are physical
phenomena, it often takes hours, days or even weeks for me to actually
document them, if at all. But this wasn’t to be a problem in Classroom
305. The principal and I had been sitting quietly at the back of the room
for about ten minutes. It was getting quite dark, and the only light came
through the hallway windows at each end of the room. The only sound was
the distant roar of traffic through the closed windows.
When it happened, I felt it first. Then
the principal looked at me, his eyes wide. He felt it too.
"Something" had arrived in the room. We both sensed it come
through the door at the front of the room and move along the blackboard,
then up the wall of windows toward us, then back down toward the
blackboard. I glanced at my companion, who stared toward the blackboard,
sweating.
There came a sharp scrape. A desk chair was moving
across the floor at the front of the room. It stopped by the door, and
there came a heavy "thump" like someone pounding on the
blackboard. There even was chalk dust in the air!
