SEE A MUCH DEEPER ARTICLE ON THIS BY PAUL ENO As 2012 approaches, the popular media and New Agers in particular are abuzz about the Mayan prophecy of the end of the world, predicted for December of that year. Should you really plan NOT to Christmas shop in 2012? Experts, including archaeologists, astronomers, and hordes of the self-appointed, say different things about whether anything will actually happen and, if so, what. But several questions arise. What does "end of the world" mean? That the entire planet blows up? That the human race annihilates itself or somehow dies out but that the planet continues? That we continue but are somehow blasted back to the Neolithic Age? According to one expert whom I trust, DeEarlon, author of Heaven's Wave: A Novel of the Doomsday Prophecy of 2012, many "experts" don't get it quite right. First of all, he says, the Mayans never claimed that the world will end in 2012. They -- and some 32 other ancient civilizations -- claimed that the world AS WE KNOW IT will end in 2012. That could mean almost anything -- good or bad. From an astronomical viewpoint, plenty is going to happen in our own conscious, known universe in 2012. Among other things: For the first time in 220 million years, our solar system and galaxy will be on a flat plane with neighboring galaxies. That happens every 220 million years. And, for some reason, every 220 million years there seems to be a mass extinction on Earth, and all sorts of new species spring up. On top of that, there seems to be another astronomical/electromagnetic event that has never occurred in the history of the known universe. I'm not entirely sure what this is because astronomers are universally reluctant to talk about it. From the "multiverse" viewpoint that I have seen so vividly manifest in my work with the paranormal over the decades, electromagnetic radiation is everything. It seems to hold the multiverse together, keeping it an open system, with free exchange of matter and energy between realities. It also seems to control access -- including that of our own consciousness and even our own bodies -- between one reality and another. When electromagnetic conditions are right, we see "ghosts" and they see us as "ghosts" across the membranes of various worlds. In the same way, I believe, we experience UFOs, cryptids, etc. This is all the free give-and-take of many different consciousnesses across the worlds, and it's enabled by electromagnetism. So what happens if some unimaginably powerful electromagnetic wave blasts across our universe -- or all the universes -- in 2012? According to some interpretations of the multiverse theory, every possible scenario -- for the Earth, the human race, and us personally -- already exists in one parallel reality or another. In some, Earth has already been pancaked by an asteroid. In others, the evolution of life has been entirely different. In still others, cats can fly. And so on and so on. And in many of these worlds, you and I exist in lives that, here, are part of our subconscious. Would such a wave unite certain worlds permanently? Would it destroy whole universes? Would it completely remake our reality for better or worse? We're amazingly electromagnetic creatures. I know that we as a species can have a shocking amount of control over our own realities within the multiverse when we act together. Maybe what happens if and when "Heaven's Wave" descends upon us is up to us. Maybe the point of the prophecies is simply to bring us together. Maybe 2012 will bring more of an opportunity than a disaster. Maybe it's an opportunity to make the next step in our evolution -- or that of the whole multiverse. That's my opinion. Among the paranormal experts, psychics, mediums and even forward-looking scientists of my acquaintance, SOMETHING is happening. There is precisely this sense that we must come together if we are to survive. Nobody is sure exactly how it will work, but I think our guardians -- whoever or whatever they might be -- are calling us to get ready for some great change -- and, heaven knows, we need one. Let us watch and wait for more answers. They will come -- and, hopefully, we will see and hear before 2012. Copyright 2009 by Paul F. Eno. All rights reserved.
